German shepherds are fiercely loyal companions who bond strongly with their owners. They should be friendly or aloof with strangers, but never shy. The shepherds at Planet Zar are all working line dogs, not show dogs, so their drive is high and their conformation un-exaggerated. Dogs here excel in protection sport, agility, obedience, and tracking.
The German shepherd should be slightly longer than tall, with clear muscle definition and a strong build. Free from exaggeration or severe angulation of the hind-quarters.
There are two coat-types available: The Short Stock Coat and the Long Stock Coat. Shorties are more common can longcoats.
German shepherds come in a variety of colors and patterns, including: Black/tan, sable, black, liver, blue, silver, fawn, and white. Most are solid in coloration, but some piebalds - called 'panda' in the GSD - do occur from time to time.
Males stand at 24-26 inches at the withers, and females 22-24 inches.
