Personality

^V^-31 (circumflex-five-circumflex-dash-thirty-one) was his original designation, which was quickly turned into "Avael". Equilibrium was the name he chose for himself, and no, he wouldn't like a nickname, thank-you. Equilibrium has difficulty discerning  his own identity; how much of him is what the Heimdall programmed, and  how much are developments and growth he caused in himself? He knows he's meant to be adaptable, intelligent, and observant. Quick to process facts and just as quick to act. He's unerringly loyal to the Heimdall, and Dr. Krum in particular - a trait he's certain was purposefully coded into him but he's incapable of resenting the fact. Equilibrium enjoys structure and has a strong desire to remain on the Heimdall. Leaving the base leaves him uncomfortable, taxed - and returning is like plunging into cool water after a decade lost in deserts. He has a deep craving for home, to belong to something outside himself. To be loved and wanted. He desire for approval is probably also artificial, but there's nothing he can do about this and he embraces it. There are probably... ethical concerns with regards to Equilibrium's persona. He tries not to think too hard about that one.

Equilibrium is capable, rational, and competent. He completes his jobs with creativity and attention to detail. He finds hidden connections and constantly searching for optimization. He enjoys pushing the boundaries of his capabilities, to create things invaluable to the Heimdall. He has no ego, no pride, and enjoys helping his fellow geneticists. He offers advice without judgement or lecture, and is often a soothing balm in an otherwise chaotic environment.

Background

Equillbrium as born on the Heimdall. One of the first successful experiments combining organic and mechanical materials to create a sapient life form. He is the 31st attempt out of hundreds, and the first to be permanently employed by the Heimdall as a complete success. He's not entirely a robot, not entirely organic. He's something beyond both.

While he was previously employed as a field operative, Equillibrium displayed uncanny intelligence and insight into genetic manipulation and design. He's been an invaluable asset to the genetics team aboard the Heimdall and is retired from battlefield duty.
