Personality

Otanyn is not an easy commander to work under. She's a self-destructive perfectionist who cuts slack from her team without hesitation. She demands everything from her subordinates and doesn't tolerate deviation or carelessness. Her stalwart attitude is not without reason, though. She's been a soldier for longer than the Heimdall existed, and she's see companies decimated from lack of discipline. She's lost too many companions in the line of fire to accept wishy-washy attitudes. Otanyn knows she's widely disliked by the soldiers under her command, but she'd rather be hated by live subordinates than loved by dead ones. Otanyn is strict about rules and follows the Heimdall's laws even when they might cause her misery. She's very much a big picture thinker, always considering the next ten steps to a play.

Despite her love of people (why else would she care so much?) Otanyn rarely lets herself get close to anyone anymore. She's lost too many friends and is sluggish in making new ones. Her trust is not easily given. Regardless, she considers each and every member of her company worth dying for. Brothers and sisters in arms. No one left behind. Each death on her hands hits her hard and she wrestles with grief daily.
