Everyone on the Heimdall knows Asco is Merete's right-hand man. Asco will do anything Merete tells them to and often dirties their hands to keep Merete's clean. They're shrewd and intelligent, confident in their own abilities, and highly observant. They've earned their rank through diligent work and dedication to the Heimdall. Their loyalty to Merete is absolute and all-consuming, The Heimdall is the first place Asco ever felt as if they belonged and they're willing to repay that comfort by whatever means necessary. As a sergeant, Asco is assertive but fair to their team. Their desire for belonging makes them quick to forgive, and Asco often accepts outliers and oddities on their team. They are out-going and open-minded, extroverted to a fault. Asco enjoys social settings and friend making as much as they like gaining assets for the Heimdall. They tend to be soft spoken with civilians, quietly charismatic, and a good listener.
Asco desperately wants to know where they came from, even if they have no intention of leaving Merete and the Heimdall. If their parents are still alive - what they are, where they are - is Asco once belonged to a family. These questions are always on their mind.
Asco was a rebellious teen, frequently in trouble with the law and always sticking their nose into things they shouldn't. They lashed out at being abandoned, wracking up a wrap sheet of petty crimes including theft and property damage.
Asco's life of crime led them to meeting Merete. A tip told them where to find some valuable data chips they'd be able to pawn off on the black market. Asco broke into a hotel room, careful, cautious, and quiet as a mouse. Unfortunately, the room's occupant was even sneakier. Asco came face-to-face with Merete, whose fury at the attempted robbery abated quickly. Asco was young, vicious, ready to flee. Merete let them.
Merete tracked Asco down at the orphanage. Asco was terrified Merete intended to press charges, but fear turned to shock when Merete offered Asco a job. Merete needed a good set of eyes and nimble hands. Asco would make an excellent assistant. Merete dragged them out of the orphanage and into a better life - a life where Asco was wanted by someone.
To this day, Asco is unerringly loyal to Merete and looks at him as something of a father-figure.
