Personality
Danya treats everyone with equal kindness and patience, she greets everyone with genuine warmth and puts forth an effort to get to know people. Initially, she comes off as soft-spoken, careful with her words and actions so as not to unintentionally hurt anyone's feelings. She's empathetic to a fault and often stretches herself too thin, trying to help everyone around her. She gives too much weight to other's opinions which can lead her to sacrificing her own ideals. Her saintly patience has its ends, though. When someone deliberately puts themselves in harms way, Danya's fangs come out. She can't abide by seeing people in pain and to have someone intentionally endanger themselves brings out her ferocity. Danya's not above pinching someone's ear and giving them a stern talking to. She knows when to cut her losses and will resort to the cold shoulder if she feels like she's constantly being taken advantage of or her feelings are being manipulated.Danya prefers to avoid confrontation wherever possible. She's very much a lover, not a fighter, and will throw herself into bar brawls in attempt to stop fights before they start. Hypocritically heedless of her own well-being. She has no compunctions against being stern with those that deserve it and has kicked more than one rowdy patron from her family's inn. She's attracted to people who are patient and gentle, calm and collected, as the likes to present herself. Danya has hopes of one day having a family of her own. She loves how close-knit her own large family is and enjoys the chaos and bustle of everyone running around one another.
History
Originally from Keroon, a minor hold, Danya is the second born of 5 children. Her parents run an inn in Keroon, which sees modest profits and offers her family a comfortable life.Danya worked at the inn with her parents, alongside her siblings.
She expected to work for her family's inn until she found a husband and started her own family. Many of her dreams and desires for the future were humble, homey, and mundane.
Being searched by a dragon was a shock, but not an unwelcome one. Danya adjusts well to surprise.
The thought of leaving her family behind to become a dragonrider was the worst part of being searched. She'd never been apart from them for long and she would miss them dearly. She left with a promise to return if she didn't impress at her first few clutches - with the search rider's permission, of course.
These agreements in place, Diann accepted the search rider's invitation and headed to Shigan Weyr, where she began candidate lessons.
Six months into candidacy, Danya stood for her first clutch. Her failure to impress was bittersweet. On one hand, after lessons and acclimating to weyrlife, she loved the thought of being a dragonrider and fighting thread for her homeworld. On the other hand, this was one step closer to returning to her family.
A searchrider from a distant world - Lantessama - arrived at Shigan and offered to take some willing candidates to their sands. Danya was bit with curiosity and volunteered to go, once she passed the dragon's inspection.
