Personality
Ishild epitomizes the 'strong and silent type.' She's quiet, often eerily so, and spends much of her time gazing into the distance deep in thought. She keeps her opinions to herself and values her privacy. She's a wanderer at heart and relishes the ability to explore - the entirely of Pern and beyond - and hates the thought of being tied down by a single responsibility. Her solemn natures belies a sense of optimism. Ishild always hopes for the best and expects victory when she's set on a goal. She's curious about the world, and her stony fortitude hides her mischievousness.Ishild is a deeply loyal person, but she doubts herself - what if she takes the wrong action? What if she leads her friends to harm? She has no problem putting herself at risk, and her self-assured optimism keeps her pushing through difficulties - but she can't stand the thought of leading her friends to harm. Her loyalty often leads to Ishild sacrificing her own wants and needs.
Ishild has a great appreciation for beautiful things. She loves tending to the gardens and while she has no artistic talent of her own, she enjoys watching her weyrmates paint.
Background
Ishild was born to a nomadic tribe that refused the confines of a hold - or to be beholden to a weyr and it's endlessly hungering dragons. Ishild was loyal to her tribe; dutiful, hard-working, and focused on bettering the lives of her family. She would never have considered leaving them.But tragedy struck, as it does in a thread-torn world. Thread fell, devastating Ishild's clan and sending them scattered and broken. Ishild lost her siblings and her father in threadfall, as well as many of her friends. She vowed never to let her loved ones be caught in the open again.
Ishild chose to journey toward a weyr. While she had no loyalty to dragonriders or their lifestyle, she wanted a bond of her own to help protect her family. If that cost years of her life in servitude to a weyr, so be it.
Ishild stands at every clutch laid at Shigan and strongly believes she will impress. If not at Shigan, than another weyr. There's a dragon out there for her that shares her ideals.
