Euclides

CLASSIFICATION Sapient Alien Constructs, Abyss Born Subspecies
HOMEWORLD Anygh
SIZE 2' - 5' at the shoulder
CLUTCH STYLE Viviparous
DIET Omnivore

General

The first and original creation by the murdon, and the oldest of the three subspecies.

When Yuukuj, the euclide's creator, became distraught with how humans were running their planet, he took away the euclide's souls and turned them against humans. Euclide's naturally prey on humans, and, despite having been moved to Anygh, they continue to have a strong taste for it. Many of them disrespect humans, considering them inferior animals and nothing more than something to sate their appetites with.

Euclides affinties are typically dark or negative in nature. Several are also related to creativity and the arts, particularly music.

They have a tendency to be cruel, even to each other, and have rigorous ideas of rank structure and treatment.

Euclides very rarely take permanent mates. Instead, they prefer to hoard partners and proliferate as many offspring as possible to more quickly take over Anygh.

Powers

SOUL STRANDS

The euclides were given the power of keeping 'soul strands,' which earned them their ranking system theme of puppeteers. All sentient beings have soul strands, and a euclides may temporarily extract this from an individual's conscious, rendering them immobile and helpless. The euclides may then use these soul strands to puppeteer their victims - giving the euclides full control over their bodies. The individual is conscious of this, and views it as an out of body experience. Higher ranking euclides may have control over several soul strands at a time, for longer periods, but all must eventually be given up.

On average, a soul strand can be held for up to 48 hours. Puppet Master and directors who have had adequate practice can hold them for much longer, but the time takes its toll on the user. The soul strand will be trying to "fight back" against the thief, causing headaches, dizziness, nausea, hallucinations, moments of confusion, and so forth. Too long, and permanent brain damage can occur. The mind needs a rest after taking over a soul strand, and is left raw and open for several hours once the strand has been returned. It is especially open to other forms of mind control and telepathy.

Physical proximity is required in order to obtain a soul strand. Higher ranking and well-practiced individuals do not need to physically touch those they're stealing from, but closeness is required. A soul strand is very rarely taken willingly, and will struggle against a euclide as hard as it can. Individuals weak of mind or temperament (timid, nervous individuals, for example) or those suffering from ill health are much easier to steal from than a healthy, confident individual.

Ranks

PUPPET

[ euclides omega ]

Puppets are the lowest of the low. Puppets are treated little better than slaves to higher ranking euclides. They are barely considered persons at all. The life of a puppet in euclides society is one of misery and pain.

Other euclides frown upon puppets breeding at all and will often try to prevent them from doing so. After all, the proliferation of puppets isn't going to help the euclidean cause.

+ Puppets cannot hold any soul strands.
+ Puppets can only learn a single level 1 magic.
+ Puppets have 10 LIFE and 10 SPIRIT.

PUPPETEER

[ euclides gamma ]

Puppeteers are the most common euclides rank, making up at least 50% of their numbers. Puppeteers are the working class, and are treated rather poorly by marionettes and directors, but at least they're useful. They are the grunts, the heavy-lifters, the people who keep society glued together. Their sheet numbers give them use to the upper ranking euclides.

Puppeteers often treat puppets the worst. They can't turn them into slaves, and there's no one else they can get away with beating up, so the puppets get the brunt of their scorn.

+ Puppeteers can hold 1 soul strand at a time, for a maximum of 24 hrs.
+ Puppeteers can learn any level 1 magic.
+ Puppeteers have 15 LIFE and 15 SPIRIT.

MARIONETTE

[ euclides beta ]

Marionettes are considered the most desirable among euclides, the perfect balance of power and obedience. They are considered upper-class individuals, but still less than directors. They often receive special treatment from upper-ranking euclides and aren't required to do any sort of grunt work. Most marionettes take advantage of their place in society by getting close to directors and puppet masters, to make their lives cushy.

Marionettes still don't receive the same rights and freedoms as directors, and can be punished for over stepping their bounds. Directors and puppet masters enjoy collecting marionettes in harems, as marionettes are far more common than directors, but can still produce directors.

Many marionettes hate that they are seen as little more than breeders.

+ Marionettes can hold 1 soul strand at a time, for a maximum of 48 hours.
+ Marionettes can learn any level 2 magic.
+ Marionettes have 25 LIFE and 25 SPIRIT.

DIRECTOR

[ euclides alpha ]

Directors are the cream of the crop. They are powerful, intelligent, and brutish. They are powerful and they know it. They demand respect from their underlings, and are quick to punish those who do not give it. They tend to be confident and egotistical.

Directors very rarely involve themselves with puppets, except as a means to sharpen their claws. They enjoy having entourages of puppeteers and marionettes at their beck and call.

+ Directors can hold 2 soul strands at a time, for a maximum of 72 hours.
+ Directors can learn any level 3 magic.
+ Puppeteers have 40 LIFE and 40 SPIRIT.

PUPPET MASTER

[ euclides deity ]

Puppet Masters are the ultimate euclides rank. Their sheer power intimidates even directors. Most euclides try to avoid them at all cost, as puppet masters have a tendency to look at other euclides of any rank as nothing but potential servants. They are steadfast and single-minded in whatever cause they have chosen.

Puppet masters do not get along with one another. They don't like the idea of sharing their power or competing for anything. Directors may be able to mediate peace between two puppet masters, but they do not share territory.

+ Puppet Masters can hold 5 soul strands, for a maximum of 1 week.
+ Puppet Masters gain access to their ultimate magic.
+ Puppet Masters have 75 LIFE and 75 SPIRIT.

Altruistic, loyal, forthright, steadfast

COMMON MUTATIONS

Wings, particularly leather wings

CURSE

APPEARANCE

Bright, fiery red and orange with thin black stripes or cracks along the spine and limbs. Burns are usually completely hairless.

PERSONALITY

Obstinate, cynical, dependable, clever

Cannibal

APPEARANCE

Bulky and muscular in build, Cannibals are certainly not a force to be reckoned with. They’re extremely strong, with a jaw pressure that exceeds most other euclides'. Their hides are various shades of brown, from beige to deep chocolate and all colors in between. Their markings are very distinct and easily recognizable, being blood red outlined in thick jagged blacks. Markings are very bold, normally along the face, the back (like a saddle), paws, and tail.

PERSONALITY

Bold, arrogant, sadistic, emotional

CURSE

Like their name implies, cannibals have a distinct taste for their own kind: euclide, although many won't pass up the occasional defore or amuni either. They detest human meat and that of non-sentient animals, making them willing to take high risks to get a piece of euclides. For this reason, others are often very wary when around a Cannibal. It’s very difficult for them to join casts, but they make decent leaders when creating their own.

Carnage

APPEARANCE

Carnage types are fairly large in size, bulkier than most other euclide. They have non-retractable claws, and often sport other weaponry-type mutations, such as spikes and horns. They are red-orange in coloration, with dark, jagged marks of rich brown to black along their spine, made of several overlapping shades. This brown encompasses most of the head and the entirety of the tail. Pale cream appears on the cheeks, neck, and toes.

PERSONALITY

Havoc-wrecking, impish, destructive, fixated

COMMON MUTATIONS

Non-retractable claws (always). Spikes. Horns.

CURSE

Carnage types live for wreckage. They mutilate and decimate just about everything in their path, leaving rubble behind. Disturbing, stereotypic, wily, courteous, generous, tactful

Corrupt

APPEARANCE

Corrupt-type hides are dark brown in coloration, from rich red-brown to liver, with medium brown undersides and pips over the eyes. Often their entire limbs will also be medium brown, rather than dark, but the various amounts of each color are decided on an individual basis. Their markings are cream in coloration, appearing as triangular slashes across the coat, and a few sparse spots. Their ears are always solid cream to white.

PERSONALITY

Cruel, depraved, selfish, diplomatic

COMMON MUTATIONS

Always sport a mutation of some form. Smaller mutations are most common (hair, small spikes), but larger mutations such as extra-limbs or wings occur more commonly in corrupts than almost any other type.

Cremation

Dark grey to black with elegant gold cursive markings. Their faces and legs may have a few red-gold flame-shaped markings. Cremations always appear to be covered in a fine layer of soot.

PERSONALITY

Pious, genial, pensive, curious, morbid

Decimation

APPEARANCE

Their base color is rich red, vibrant but dark. Overlain across this red are black tiger stripes, which may take up the entirety of the body, or be confined to a few sections, such as the face or rump. Their underside and paws are white, with the occasional misshapen splotch of red to mar it. Decimation types always sport joint spikes of some sort.

PERSONALITY

Sly, domineering, destructive, wily, imaginative

Desire

APPEARANCE

Born completely white, desires develop their markings after their first use of the soul strand ability. Desires obtain a want from the first individual they control and their markings develop to reflect this. Markings are usually red, blue, or purple and distinctly iconographic in nature

PERSONALITY

Cruel, seductive, deceitful, focused, frenzied, obsessive, scheming

CURSE

Once they've used their soul strand ability and obtain their desire, this euclides becomes hyper-fixated on obtaining that want. The desire for this thing (or concept) becomes all-consuming. The only way to escape this is to never initiate the soul strand ability, in which case the desire affinity will remain completely white. Puppet ranked desires (who are incapable of holding soul strands) never develop this curse.

Drowned

APPEARANCE

Drowned constantly appear as if they are wet, with slick, dripping fur that hangs like it were weighed down. They carry their ears and tail low, their lips turned down, giving them an overall appearance of melancholy. In coloration drowned-types are light to medium blue, with gray markings. Markings appear along the spine, normally in horizontal stripes or tabby markings. Paws, wrists, and tail-tip also possess some form of marking or pattern. Beneath their eyes are always tear-markings or stripes.

PERSONALITY

Warm, secretive, melancholic, enigmatic

OTHER

Drowned constantly feel cold to the touch, and don’t produce a significant amount of body-heat. For this reason they shiver constantly and require additional insulation and warming methods to keep themselves from dying. Drowned-types cannot leave water for longer than 45 minutes. They must stay completely submerged for a total of one full hour after leaving their water in order to survive. Drowned do not need to breath, and therefore cannot be suffocated or drowned. Drowned who leave water for longer than 45 minutes lose their ability to not-breathe, and will simply suffocate on the air as they can't inhale/exhale properly. Their lungs, as they do have them, are small and shriveled.

They sport markings similar to paint splatters along their backs and faces, which contain gradient hues of red-pink through to blue. Their eyes are obscured by jagged wing-shaped markings, coloured vibrantly. They may have hue changes on the muzzle, ears, and down the limbs and tail.

PERSONALITY

Addictive, euphoric, volatile

COMMON MUTATIONS

Manes, antennae, insect/fairy wings.

Other

Euphorias are true addicts of every sense of the word. They put themselves into a routine and cannot get out of it. If they enjoy something, it no longer becomes a simple pleasure, but an obsession. Friendship with a euphoria-affinity can soon turn into an unhealthy relationship, as the euphoria cannot let go of people they are close to, and may turn to stalker-like behaviour. They are especially volatile and have frequent mood swings.

APPEARANCE

Infections are olive green, with yellow, red, and black markings, often in roan or speckles across their muzzles, neck, and trunk. Their eyes are commonly solid black in coloration, rather than white. They are easily recognizable from the obvious stench of sickness, and their habit of slinking and crawling, rather than walking proudly.

Reclusive, youthful, tight-lipped

CURSE

Lost-types are not completely corporeal. They constantly fade in and out of existence and can disappear entirely for years at a time, feeling no passage of time upon their return. Because they are not fully substantial attempting to harm them will be met with failures. Attacks or any attempt to touch them, will result in the pursuer passing straight through them. The same is true for the lost-type itself. They cannot come into physical contact with another being unless 100% grounded, which is not a common occurrence, and only lasts for moments.

Stubborn to a fault, once a Parasite has attached itself to someone, they don’t let go until they’ve scavenged every last scrap they wanted.

CURSE

The schaudenfruede type takes an immense pleasure from seeing other’s in pain. So much so that they spend their entire existence looking for terrible situations to watch. But that’s all they do. They rarely initiate cruel acts toward others, and aren’t true sadists. They like to sit on the sidelines and watch other’s misery pass them by. A sense of real elation, almost a ‘high’ is felt at various intensities upon bearing witness to another’s misfortune.

Scream

APPEARANCE

At first glance, the Scream-type is fairly average. It is unspectacular in build, size, and coat-type, most often without notable mutations. In coloration it is fairly bland, being solid black except for a white face, which may extend down the neck and chest to create a hood. Nothing too eye-catching. These markings fade between soft blue to pink, with the amount of each color varying between individuals. Unrequited types always have some elegant design around their eyes.

While they can survive on human and other abyss born blood, they are likely to be overtaken by an insatiable bloodlust causing them to hunt and feed upon other euclide.

Vanity

APPEARANCE

Always a vanity will be white, though a slight cream can discolour them at their points or thinly at their underbelly. Such color is also known to follow the spine. Those of the vanity type should go otherwise for the most part unmarked, although intense stress can cause 'cracks' to form. Such form in a fashion similar to wrinkles, at the corners of the eyes, lips, at the ear bases, etc. It's not uncommon for faint tints to seem to artificially 'liven' the paleness of a vanity, such as black lining of the eyes, and tints where a human might wear blush or eye-shadow. The fur is usually short and sleek, creating the illusion of flawlessness. Vanity, regardless of being colorless themselves, love to adorn themselves with clothing and other accessories of rich color. Vanity types have a very extreme mutation in the form that they do not have faces. While most possess ears, the majority have no eyes and no true "mouth" (they may have mouth parts, but these are uncovered by flesh or hide). To compensate for this, vanity types each wear a perfectly crafted porcelain mask, which gives the illusion of beauty.

Zombie

APPEARANCE

Naturally green in coloration, although grayish shades are not uncommon. Their markings are solid black, and appear as patterns common to wild cats – stripes, rosettes, classic tabby, spots, etc. They may also have whole limbs or patches that are solid black. Zombie-types have pieces stitched into them, such as borrowed limbs, and often have crude, visible stitches scattered across their bodies. Many zombies have ‘borrowed’ mutations, like horns and wings, which have been artificially grafted to their bodies…and therefore cannot be passed on to offspring.

PERSONALITY

Apathetic, lackadaisical, eccentric, abnormal

CURSE

Zombies are very, very close to being undead. Most of their organs aren’t fully functional. They are very sluggish in their movements, and therefore will eat just about anything they can get a hold of…including other Euclide and their pets. They also bleed black, rather than red, and their blood gives off a terrible stench similar to rotting fruit.
