Personality
Confident and assertive, Abiel is comfortable in almost any setting and has no issue integrating in conversations with strangers. She's not meek and doesn't beat around the bush: When there's something she needs (or wants) she comes right out and says it. If people have a problem with her, she accepts their criticism at face value and moves on. You can't make everyone like you, and Abiel doesn't need anyone's admiration to feel good about herself. While she's fine in social settings, given the choice she prefers the quiet workspace of her lab, or wandering the biome decks on her own, observing.Abiel's confidence leads her to make poor snap decisions. She rarely puts much forethought into her choices, and once an idea pops in her head, she's already on her way to implement it. Her decisiveness can be useful, but it's also led to more than one unfortunate mishap. Abiel readily admits to her mistakes and apologizes sincerely, without prompting, but she doesn't tend to learn from them. She won't dwell on the past, and while she doesn't want to hurt anyone, she has a tendency to repeat her mistakes.
Abiel's deepest passion is conservation and she joined the Refugium to lend her hand to saving endangered species. Her adoration for dragons specifically came later, but now that she's studied dozens of species, she's endlessly fascinated with them. She's romanticized the concept of bonding to the point that she's crippled by indecision. Something she's not used to! Abiel believes there's one dragon out there that's meant to be her bond, and she's hesitant to stand at any clutch in case it's not the right one.
Background
Born on Zar just before the pollution took over and killed most her planet, she knows intimately what it's like to lose one's habitat. She witnessed the extinction of species, her own home destroyed by her people's recklessness. This fueled her passion for conservation.Abiel lives on the Refugium full time and never wants to visit Zar again. Seeing it, desolated and full of smog, is heartbreaking.
Abiel's experience in the crystal caves of the winter gather has gifted her with the impression of a holly dragon from Lantessama. Ilexbi is everything Abiel could have hoped for and more.
