⦿ Lounging in his marine quarters beneath the oceanic biodome, Lubomir whiled away his free time making his usual rounds on Zar's various dating sites. Humanoids and shapeshifters were low priority in his preferences, but he considered the beauty of a difficult romance. Doomed, almost. Most of his attention was put toward dragon-sized mates, narrowed further by the limitations of his aquatic form. Runners and fliers were so much more common than swimmers. It was disheartening, but again, there was beauty in working out a difficult relationship. Who knew what form his soulmate took?
⦿ Advertisements for flights flit across his vid screen and he dismissed them all with an incredulous snort. He had no desire for a one time fling or a brief relationship for the sole purpose of reproducing. Ikthy drakes weren't the most common species in the Nexus, but Lubomir didn't want to breed with anyone except his soul mate, whoever they may be. And if they weren't compatible in that fashion, so be it. The romance of growing old together was more important.
⦿ Lubomir sent polite inquiries and sincere compliments to the few new dragonkin that matched his profile and flicked away the dating sites with a wistful sigh.
⦿ It was rare for him to have an entire evening of peaceful solitude. His last few dates had been pleasant enough, but lacking that spark of connection he ached for. Everything within the oceanic biodome was running smoothing, his carefully managed ecosystem in perfect sync. No new clutches on the sands for him to worry about, and his favorite egg nanny Orome had just returned from Lantessama with a bond of her own that had a promising future ahead of her.
⦿ Should he look for a bond?
⦿ This wasn't the first time the thought occurred to him. It was, after all, the cornerstone of the Refugium. Many of the residents in his biodome were bonded pairs and bondless dragons seeking refuge. Aquatic dragons were less common, always in need of suitable bonds that could reside within them underwater. The Refugium rarely had aquatic clutches open for public bondings, but there was an entire Nexus of opportunities out there.
⦿ Lubomir reawakened his data pad to begin the search.
⦿ Lubomir had never seen such a perfect example of dragon-kind in all his life.
⦿ Being an aquatic dragon made travel difficult in the best of times, when Lubomir was decked out on the Refugium's research vessels specifically equipped for water bound individuals. His time was spent between the Refugium's oceanic biodome and the salt waters of planets needing his expertise. He'd never before "taken a vacation" to non-marine destinations. Lantessama would prove interesting to traverse, but at least the island was... well... an island and the coral clutch he was looking forward two nestled into a warm, rocky bay. Lubomir didn't mind living rustically for a few days while he awaited the hatching.
⦿ He'd never heard of coral dragons before happening across the advertisement on his data pad. What little information he could glean inticed him beyond reckoning. Dragons that could grow large enough to become an ecosystem of their own, housing and shielding smaller organisms.
⦿ Lubomir desperately hoped a hatchling would deem him worthy of a bond. Such a dragon would be an excellent asset to his work and a boon to the Refugium's Oceanic biodome.
⦿ All he could do was hope and wait while he explored the deeper waters just off of Lantessama's coast.
