Yukiko is a wistful romantic, but her overtures are often eccentric and unnerving. She loves leaving presents in mysterious places for the object of her affection to find. And, like a cat, these presents are often... inglorious. Wings from deceased silk moths, pieces of raw spun silk, the pressed leaves of toxic plants, tiny brittle bird skulls she finds beautiful. She's careful to keep herself hidden when she brings gifts, as she's terrified of rejection. Past crushes that have spurned her face an unshakable cold shoulder. Yukiko falls in love easily and carries her feelings for eons. Recovery from rejection is more difficult for her than the average human.
Despite her oddities, Yukiko is sociable and loves attending group events. She's not particularly talkative, but she never passes up the chance to observe other people. Her comments, when she makes them, are often startling and delivered in a serious monotone. Yukiko refuses to censor herself and always speaks exactly what's on her mind when she decides to join a conversation. She's utterly tactless but also completely truthful when asked a question. The only thing she obfuscates are her romantic interests.
Yukiko values preparedness and always has a contingency plan when things go awry. She doesn't let disaster get the best of her and manages a level head during chaos.
Since her rebirth - and therefore becoming immortal - Yukiko has had a fascination with death.
In her earliest days, Yukiko worked under a demonic warlord, travelling across realms to punish wicked mortals.
One of the mortals she flayed alive left behind a young concubine. Ordinarily, Yukiko would walk away and leave her to her own business, but the mortal woman was unperturbed by Yukiko's presence or her murdering of her master. The concubine was a silk weaver - she boiled the cocoons of silk worms and worked them into perfect spools, which she dyed and tailored into beautiful tapestries.
Yukiko's insatiable curiosity was struck and she visited the concubine for many years, watching and learning from her. Yukiko was shy, cautious to interact with her directly, but the woman address her whenever she was near and was unfazed by Yukiko's silent gaze.
Eventually, Yukiko realized she was developing feelings for the strange woman and began to leave her gifts. Each gift was given a place of honor in the concubine's house.
One day, Yukiko came to visit and found the concubine missing... along with all Yukiko's gifts. Yukiko stalked around her house, searching for signs of her. In the bedroom she found a massive silk tapestry depicting Yukiko and the concubine, with all the gifts she'd given embroidered into the silk. Yukiko was taken aback. The concubine appeared behind her, silent as a shadow, brandishing a wicked knife.
Yukiko asked: Why are you holding a knife to me? What have I done?
"You have cut me," replied the concubine. "I am deeply wounded. For you visit me and show me your love for me, but do not grant me the honor of enjoying that love."
"I have never loved. I don't know how," said Yukiko.
"You do," said the concubine, who dropped her knife and dragged Yukiko into a kiss.
From then on, the two lived together as wives. Yukiko protected the concubine from all dangers and ills until old age and death finally took her. Yukiko's heart broke, but she promised to care for her love's silk worms. She would be kept alive through them.
Yukiko raised generations of silk worms. She'd learned from her wife how to care for the silk and turn it into magnificent spools, but she lacked the artistry to make tapestries herself. Yukiko wished to sell the silk, so that her wife might be immortalized through it, but no one would buy silk from an oni.
Yukiko was approached by a strange dog-like humanoid that offered her a place on Sunfall island, where her silk and her expertise would be most welcome. Yukiko agreed.

IMMORTALITYYukiko can't die of old age or natural causes. While she can be killed, she can only be permanently injured by magical weapons.
