Species Human | [DPHDK-Shifter] Pronouns he/him
Age 39 Height: 6'3"
Division Starfleet Rank Captain
Residence The Heimdall

Personality

The eldest of The General's children, one would expect Aurich to be the perfect soldier: serious, stern, and sergeant-like. He has the weight of a family legacy on his shoulders and bares the Rosenheim name with honor. But he's not the epitome of a military man. He's soft-tempered and kind, especially to the men and women that serve under him. He forms attachments easily and offers his affections freely without condition. If he'd been born in any other family, he'd be a lover, not a fighter, but war is in his name and his blood, so he does as he must and fights. He is infinitely loyal to the Heimdall and doesn't question the orders he receives, the missions he's sent to oversee, the purpose of the organization itself. His love for his family blinds him to any ethical dilemmas. But he is a cautious commander that puts the safety and well-being of his underlings ahead of any other aspect of the mission.

Aurich is quick to feel envy but rarely expresses it - or, he tries hard no to. He hates to have people think less of him and never wants to hurt someone's feelings. As the eldest child of The General he feels he has certain advantages and should be granted boons above his siblings. When Dietlinde was chosen to be the first Rosenheim sent to bond a dragon, Aurich's jealousy burned furiously. He'd deeply regret Dietlinde ever finding out, and expresses only admiration and joy for her bonding.

Aurich is wracked with uncertainties for the future. He doesn't know if he's cut out to take up his mother's mantle when she finally passes. As a Captain he already has a great many responsibilities and running the military sect of the Heimdall is an overwhelming concept. On the other hand, he feels he's entitled to the position and doesn't want to let his family down by doing a poor job of it. He struggles with decisions and would likely do better if he wasn't in a command position, but honor and pride keep him from asking to step down.

Background

The first child born to General Rose Rosenheim, before she took up the mantle of General from her grandmother.

Aurich was raised to be a soldier and grew up on The Heimdall. A sensitive and affectionate young boy who strove to gain his mother's approval and praise.

When he reached adulthood and could properly join The Heimdall's armed forces, Aurich was initially quite coddled and protected - although he was not made aware of this. Many of his years of military service were backwater villages and simple, safe missions.

He was eventually made into an officer mainly through his name alone - and The General's desire to protect her first born son. Aurich now serves as captain of a starfleet vessel and almost never steps foot into any real danger. He spends a great deal of time at the Heimdall as well, helping with organization and placing of new recruits.

Aurich's sister, Alice, had two children while Aurich was in his 20s. He was extraordinarily fond of his niece and nephew, who were largely raised aboard the Heimdall by The General and several staff members. Aurich tried to be an active part of their lives as much as he could. Alice hadn't exactly been elated about having children, and her partner was chosen partially by The General. Lineage, heritage, carrying on the Rosenheim name and military prestige.

Aurich's interactions with his niece and nephew left him with a pang in his heart. He wanted a child of his own - but not one that would be raised by the Heimdall, not one that would be hand picked by The General and altered by Krum in a laboratory.

On one of his missions, he ran into a ground trooper: Isabella "Butch" Guerrero. They formed a close friendship and Aurich confided in her that he'd like to have a kid of his own one day. Butch - never one to pass up a sudden whim - agreed to act as a surrogate mom, if Aurich was interested. She didn't have much interest in raising a family of her own, but she liked the idea of her brood being out there in the universe.

Shortly thereafter, Aurich's son, Cirino, was born. He managed to hide his agreement with Butch and the length of her pregnancy from The General. Aurich took baby Cirino back to the Heimdall to meet his grandmother for the first time.

The General was visibly displeased, but not about to disown her own grandchild. Aurich requested more jobs on the Heimdall and fewer out in space - at least for the time being. He wanted an active part of Cirino's childhood. With reluctance, The General agreed.

Cirino is currently 12 and Aurich has been a constant presence in his son's life. While Cirino is destined to join the Heimdall when he grows up, his choices are open to him. He could just as easily join the science division, data sourcing, or even operations. Aurich encourages Cirino to be himself and not make any decisions hastily.

Aurich is aware that Cirino's existence has harmed how The General views him, but he doesn't regret having his own kid free from Krum's meddling and The General's machinations.
