Personality
A loyal follower of Zaifeth for many centuries, Hjaldur is nothing if not devout to his patron goddess. Hjaldur is ponderous and quiet; partially because it's his nature to think things through before speaking, and partially because he has a heavy stutter he's ashamed of. Hjaldur does things by the book, he's particular about rules and organization. Which isn't to say he can't adapt quickly when a situation warrants it; that comes with the job. But he likes to make certain there's contingencies in place in case things do go wrong. Hjaldur is happiest when he knows the next several steps to a plan before an adventure has even begun. He often appears to be unbelievably lucky, but that's just the result of good planning!Hjaldur is unerringly dedicated to Zaifeth's cause and protecting Lomeelas from Cassmir and his brood, to the point that he often acts for the "greater good", disregarding harm caused in the short term. Pity doesn't sway his dedication to his oath. Hjaldur abhors revenge and never takes quests for vengeance.
Hjaldur takes Zaifeth's aspect of "passion" quite seriously. He enjoys decadent pleasures. The opportunity to indulge rarely arrives, but when it presents itself Hjaldur takes full advantage. He also has difficulty resisting a pretty face with a pleasant smile.
Background
Hjaldur was born to a wood elf father and a mountain dwarf mother. He was raised in a busy city that hosted a mosaic of races and cultures, so being a half-breed wasn't particularly unusual. He has several siblings and remains close to his extended family. When his niece Torwenys expressed an interest in adventuring, he was eager to mentor her.Hjaldur was a soldier before he was an adventurer, fighting under Zaifeth's banner. During a skirmish he lost sight of most of his party, who were never found again after the battle. Hjaldur believes they're still alive, captured on enemy territory, and holds out hope he'll find them again.
He has recently become a party leader and mentor for his young niece, Torwenys.
